Which CELPIP test do you need?
- Canada PR (Express Entry): CELPIP-General, which tests all four skills. Most Federal Skilled Worker applicants need at least CLB 7 in every skill. See the score you need for Express Entry.
- Australian visas: CELPIP-General is accepted. See CELPIP for Australia.
- Canadian citizenship: CELPIP-General LS (Listening and Speaking) is accepted. You take this after you have become a permanent resident.
CELPIP tips for Indian test takers
- Get used to Canadian accents and situations. CELPIP uses everyday Canadian contexts: landlords, neighbours, community centres, workplace emails. Canadian news and podcasts help. See listening tips and reading tips for each part.
- Practise typing. Writing is typed on a computer with no spell-check. Type your practice answers, don't write them by hand.
- Speaking is recorded, not an interview. Practise speaking to a timer, not to a person, using the free speaking drill.
- Fill the time. Many candidates finish speaking early. Use a structure, such as the one in the Task 1 guide, to fill 60 or 90 seconds.
